On Wednesday, May 12th, 2010, I had a presentation at Portland State University. This was my first presentation at Portland State.
One of the attendees of this presentation brought up a very good question. Shu-Ju Wang asked me, "Are you registered?" I honestly did not find out about registering as a 501c3 until Shu-Ju brought this up. I am looking into beginning the registration process.
Overall, this presentation was a success; I was able to answer questions and briefly describe this project, as well as meet with individuals. It was a pleasure. Thank you to my family for allowing this glitch in their day and coming to support me. I wish my parents were there to see it as well.
I took part in an event at the Oregon Historical Society yesterday afternoon, as well. This event took place from 11am-3pm. I had a table set-up, next to a variety of other organizations, including directors of the World Affairs Council and a Czech Republic organization. Special thanks to Jeremiah Bay and Gloria Rasmussen.
My next presentation will be at Portland State University in Hoffman Hall for the Arab Persian night, beginning at 5:00 pm. I will not only be speaking about this organization, but my families journey to America as well.
My last meeting with Dr. Aubyn Marath of CardioStart International before I leave will hopefully take place on June 10th, 2010. This meeting will be held to complete any last minute plans.
This last Thursday, I was sitting and reading in the Park Blocks on campus before having to walk down to work. A young man, who later identified himself as Arturo Garcia, came up to me and asked about the Journey to Heal Kurdistan. We sat there and had a brief, but enlightening, conversation on not only this project...but on how Arturo is another member of our generation working hard to give minorities at Portland State a voice. Although we are dealing with two completely different strategies, we both have the ultimate goal of making things better for, not only future generations, but those who are here right now. I have a lot of respect for Arturo and I found more motivation from our conversation, it was an absolute pleasure.
I am very confident in the passion and aim of this project. I will do everything in my power to improve the health resources for the Kurdish people.
I realize I haven't made any direct thank you's, so here they are...
