February

Yesterday I focused on speaking with others about my cause all throughout the day. Today I finalized the brochure for this cause. Although it has a very simplistic look, it's very informational and it provides a lot of resources for others to retrieve more information.

In the near future, I need to set up the video blog that I will be updating frequently when I am overseas. It is better to do it sooner vs later because I want everyone to be familiar with the site prior to actually filming the video blog and documentary. Of course, I will be posting and embedding links for the videos on every site.

Today, I also spent a lot of time going from door to door in a part of my neighborhood. It was very discouraging, to say the least. The first person I approached interrogated me about hazelnuts and shushed me everytime I tried to respond.

The second person that opened their door was half naked and told me "We don't do projects, and I'm already married." I wasn't hitting on him, he was about 60, with TWO beers in his hand, not just one. My little sister told me "It's not that bad..." and then the storm IMMEDIATELY came on. No really, a thunderstorm. I'm talking, about 20 seconds until were all drenched. All of our envelopes, notebooks, and brochures...all drenched. We were already a few hills from our house, so I wanted to finish my goal for the day. I continued, despite the weather, and eventually my fathers car entered the street we were on and took my sister and I back home. My shirt is still wet, more than 5 hours later.

For my first day of door-to-doors, this was pretty discouraging. For some reason, I'm excited to go back out tomorrow! I have faith in this cause, and I have faith in the people I speak with.
No harsh remarks or interrogations can bring me down, I'll be way more prepared next time!
Great learning experience =)
Until then...have a great night!
